Not sure what Ad-Tastic means? Go here.Â
Look… I know insurance companies have a product to sell, and that their product is only valuable if consumers stay conscious of risk. But check out this ad from Allstate…
Â
Isn’t that just a little over the top? It reminds me of the ad that Frank Cross creates at the beginning of Scrooged, where an announcer says we’d better watch A Christmas Carol Live, or else. And then there’s footage of nukes going off and people shooting each other on the highway.Â
Seriously, Allstate… Do you need to scare us into buying insurance? If your sales are down, it’s probably because people can’t afford your services, not because they’ve glibly decided their basements will never flood. Times are tough all over.
And showing the happy wedding turning into a funeral? Just tacky. Next, I’m expecting a commercial where Dennis Haysbert breaks people’s stuff, then looks at the camera and says, “Sometimes, Allstate makes sure you need us.”

Agreed. It’s unreal. Maybe Allstate is brokering a partnership with Prozac or the Brooklyn Casket Company? Why else be such a fear-monger? Geez…
