As you may remember, last week’s music quiz was awesome. I took the first 30 lines from 30 randomly shuffled songs on my iPod and asked you to supply the artist and title. And boy did you: As a group, you ended up identifying 27 of the mysterious tunes, only missing obscure tracks by Toad the Wet Sprocket (remember them?), country singer Lori McKenna, and Carrie Underwood.
I also invited you to submit your own lists, and there were enough responses to make me launch the Friday Quiz. So let’s try that: Every Friday, I’ll post a different fun, interactive quiz, and we can all enjoy the fun interactivity.
This week, I’m happy to feature 30 Random Songs from the iPod of Lee F., a Critical Condition reader who e-mailed his list from work. Same rules apply as last week: Don’t look the lyrics up on the internet, and try not to answer more than three per day. That way, more people can play.
Let’s go!

For the record, Top of the World is the Patty Griffin version. I didn’t even know there was a Dixie Chicks version of the song. Now I have to go listen to that.

2. Eleanor Rigby – Beatles
13. You’re My Best Friend- Queen
29. Fretless – R.E.M.
That’s all I can get that’s not already gotten. I love that both of these lists had lesser known R.E.M. songs.

12. Napoleon – Ani Difranco
Not sure about this, I think it’s “reach millions” in Napoleon, not “make millions,” but I read the line and the song started up in my head, so I figured it was worth a try. And all the other ones I know have been guessed already.

I think #12 is Napoleon, too… Lee, are we right and “make millions” is a typo… or is it another song?
8 Lee // Feb 6, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Yeah, it’s a typo. Sorry folks! The rest are right on so far…
