Welcome to your Friday iPod Quiz.
The Rules: Critical Condition reader Sarah G has put her iPod on shuffle. After the jump, she will list 30 lines from the first 30 songs that it plays. You provide artist and title. (Note: She will not necessarily list the first line of the song.)
Please don’t look up the lyrics on the web. That’s lame.
And please don’t provide more than three answers per day. That way, more people can play.
The Answers: Will be posted in the comments section of this post next Friday. You can find the answers to last week’s quiz here.
Now let’s do this thing!

(Let’s hear it for female-driven bands from the ’90s whose music is more electronic as you go down the list!)

Joe’s right about #13. I do have some Jann Arden on my ipod though.
Also, I think from now on I’ll call myself Critical Condition reader Sarah G.

4. Where Does the Good Go – Tegan and Sara
27. Mushaboom – Feist

@CCrSG- see, this is the Canuck thing: even if you really don’t pay attention to or even like a song from a Canadian artist, you’ll still know every bloody word of it due to the insane repetition on radio & video television. This will not happen with Prince, which is a damned shame. Stupid CanCon rules.

27. Feist — “Mushaboom”

So… um… what is CanCon?
18 Seth Christenfeld // Aug 1, 2009 at 1:44 am
“Canadian contemporary,” maybe?
19 Maureen // Aug 1, 2009 at 2:22 am
#3 Respect Yourself Staple Singers or Bruce Willis

Canadian government regulations dictating the amount of Canadian-produced content required to air on radio & TV stations. Over the years, this has resulted in us being subjected to way too much Triumph, April Wine, “The Beachcombers” and “Counterstrike”, though The Tragically Hip & “SCTV” probably compensate us for this torture.

Thanks, Cayenne! It seems like this could be a pretty good idea, at least in the sense that it will help Canadian artists get work. And is this why “Slings & Arrows” got to stay on for three years? I’ve never understood how someone without a theater background could find a way to connect to it (though as a dyed-in-the-wool theater geek, I loved it.)
Of course, I do understand the horror of being forced to endure homegrown crud. Or as I like to call it here, “NCIS.”

It’s pretty embarrassing how much canadian stuff there is on my ipod. In my defense, it’s good canadian stuff. (I know not everyone likes Great Big Sea, but I nurture my inner frat boy).
You’ll probably be pleased to know there are only 5 canadian songs not guessed yet.
And, uh, the rest of my music collection is less geeky. Seriously. Cash, classic rock, and so forth. When I had my itunes on shuffle to do ths, it must have been in a high school mood.

Ha! Tell me about it Sarah… every time I do an iPod quiz, it’s all teen pop and dance divas. I always want to put an explanatory note at the bottom, listing all the super cool bands I also enjoy. But then again… those Taylor Dayne songs are on my iPod. There’s no denying it.
24 cayenne // Aug 3, 2009 at 12:31 am
@Mark – Taylor Dayne, nuthin’. People have gone through my iPod, with comments like “cool”, “eclectic”, “wow, that’s some *really* obscure 80s”, and other generally complimentary remarks.
Then they find the Spice Girls. And I get the Incredulous Eyebrows.
