The NY Times style section is such a self-absorbed read on any given occasion. When I used to get the Sunday Paper, I would read the Sunday Styles section and marvel at it, as if it were a communique from Mars. The target audience is very limited, and I often found that the authors were just "all growed up" college newspaper hacks who really didn't have much perspective on life outside of their bubble, which usually required a ton of money. Not sure how the section is turning out during the recession, but this 'Seth Rogen is the New Hot' type article does not give me a lot of hope.

Mark, of course, is the bomb, and actually does have some perspective that makes his writing stand out. I say we make him editor.

Mark, I heart you. I have my own scathing Styles section post in the works and I am totes linking yours!

Given what I blog about, I read Styles fairly regularly, along with their health and fitness blog. Their reporting is as bad as the lady mags, and I speak from my experience working at said mags that if one Dr. agreed with our theory, and 99 others disagreed, guess who was getting quoted? Their fitness reporting in particular irks me, since their advice could lead to real physical damage.

Will alert when posted!

It is fitting at this time to remind everyone that Guy Trebay demanded free porn from gay porn mogul Michael Lucas.

I get that he's the "style writer"... but his writing resume so far does not impress me.
