It's estimated that over 80% of the campaign members on facebook were FAKE friends....i.e. bought by someone to bolster the campaign. Their facebook group brought 502,672 sales (most of which were multiple sales) indicating that, at best, 125,668 (average of 4 sales each) out of their 800,000+ facebook "friends" were legitimate or actually took part in the campaign. Which raises the poser....if you stood to make £300,000 pounds from sales of the single and reignited interest in old catalogue that you own, would you be keen on seeing the RATM campaign succeed? Would you, for example, be tempted to spend some money to buy "friends" (the going rate is about £500 for 10,000. ditto for twitter) to give the impression of a revolution gaining momentum and make sure the press/media know about it?
